Last weekend the Rusty organized in association with Jart Skateboard, Monster Energy drink and Riot Skate the Bastien Salabanzi Invitational in the city of Bordeaux, France. The concept of the event was simple: Bastien wanted to invite a couple of his friends for a unique skateboard session. The skaters were all up for it and 8 of Europeans best including, Flo Marfaing, Max Frion, Raphaël Brunis, Marc Haziza, Seb Daurel, Mathieu Dupuy and Julien Béchet turned up for the show.

Saturday 3rd of October, by 2 PM, the riders reached the Riot Skate shop for some short ITW’s before heading to the Street park. After an hour of warm up all the crew were ready to go and put on a show with the ongoing support of Seb Daurel’s hilarious commentary. The level of skateboarding was nothing but amazing and the 1500 spectators that showed up on the day were more than stoked to see how these guys rode their home spot.

Flo Marfaing and Max Frion were onfire on the wheeling table showing everyone how to manual.. All the curbs and ledges got burned as well by Mathieu Dupuy and Raphaël Brunis. Julien Béchet blew out everyone whilst Bastien Salabanzi demonstrated to everyone that he is definitely still one of the best international riders on any kind of modules.
Close to the end of the day, Seb Daurel called the crew to finish the session in the 2 bowls and for that final Jam Marc Haziza, Seb, Julien Béchet and Xan from Biarritz were some of the standouts.

Once all the boys had called an end to the session, just like a big brother TV show, it was the riders that had the final vote and there were no surprises listening to the claps from the crowd.

The result by riders and the public opinion were:
Best trick street: Julien Béchet with his big frontside blunslide flip back out won the 500€ offered by Monster Energy Drink.
Best performer street: Bastien Salabanzi won the 500€ offered by Jart.
On the bowl side, the boys had their work cut out for them making a decision and after half an hour of voting the winners were finally decided….
Best trick street: Seb Daurel grabbed the 200€ from Jart with his massive foot plant on the wall.
Best performer bowl: the straight up height of his airs gave Marc Haziza the 300€ offered by Jart.
Any skate event without a closing party is not a skate event at all and the boys didn’t want to let anyone down so they seen out the night with Bastien, Seb Daurel and few friends on stage at the Molly Malone Pub offering up to the rest of the boys and public a private music jam. The music was insane and anyone could have been fooled to think we were in the New Orleans enjoying a few cold beers whilst listening to some Stevie Ray and Jimi Hendrix songs.

A big thanks to all the riders for the good vibe that was spread during the whole event and to all our partners who helped us put it together: Jart, Monster Energy Drink, Kingpin, Beach Brother, Riot Skate Shop, Puzzle Video, Monster skateboard, Dogway, Sport+, Pop Ride Onsk8 and Global boarding News….
Stay tuned for the video clip coming soon…….
